What if there were no Bibles? – We must respond

For nine years Bibles for China has been seeking ways to be open to the leadership of the Lord regarding the need China has for Bibles. With 1,350,000,000 people in China there is never going to be a time that Bibles will not be needed or a time that the purchase of Bibles for them would not be appreciated. When we first started going to China we could openly visit and spend time with the rural churches and their leaders. Many were able to go with us as a team members and be inspired by the grateful expressions of those who received a Bible of their own. Situations in China have now made it difficult for us to have teams go to the churches for Bible distributions. However, we are still able to provide Bibles to many of the locations where we have strong relationships and they are enthusiastic that they can receive God’s Word for their people.

Because of the growth of Christianity, there has been a constant request from the leaders that we work with that they need study Bibles, commentaries and other materials in order for them to be able to train the leaders in their churches. There are commentaries and pastor’s study materials that have been produced in China that are available for this purpose. We feel that it is important for us to assist the leaders there with these materials to distribute to their pastors and Bible teachers. This will make a great difference for the spiritual development of the Christians in China. Therefore we have made the decision to dedicate some of the funds that God has provided Bibles for China for these projects.

It is important to make it possible for the church in China to be able to continue to win their people to Christ and help them grow in their faith. The Three-Self Patriotic Movement prescribes that the church there should be self-governing, self-supporting and self-propagated. It is our desire to be as compliant as possible with government policies and work with the leadership of the registered churches in order to assist them to continue to be successful in their mission of bringing Christ to the people of China. We feel that this continued openness gives opportunity to develop relationships that will garner the trust and confidence of both the people in China in which we are working and the partners we have who support the ministry.

Our passion continues to get Bibles into the hands of the Christians in China so they can learn its truths and be available to mentor those who are coming to Christ daily. It is essential that they are able to: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15
