From the beginning of Bibles for China we have had a love and heart for China.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 “And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.” The Apostle Paul was thrilled that the church in Macedonia was embracing the truth he shared with them. Paul had been prompted by the Holy Spirit to take the Gospel to a place that it had not been before. He found that the truth was quickly accepted and brought transformation to those who listened and believed. This passage is a great encouragement for all of us involved with the work of getting Bibles into the hands of those who have not previously had access to them. What we do really does make a difference! Every Bible that we help to place has the potential to change a life for eternity. It is the Word of God and we take seriously our responsibility as advocates for the distribution, preservation and implementation of the Word of God around the world, specifically China to which God has called us.
We want you to know that there is still much to be done. In a conversation this week with a friend of China we were reminded that in spite of what we may think about the progress in the economic development there, many rural Chinese still live in extreme poverty. Our mandate to help these dear friends receive a Bible remains as essential as ever. God has continued to bless us with open doors. Requests from our Chinese partners to help them place scriptures in areas of need continue at a high rate. We sense an urgency to do as much as we can as quickly as we can, while doors remain open. Your faithful prayers and support are so helpful as we attempt to fulfill as many of these requests as possible. We are half way through 2020. The cumulative events of this year so far have been unprecedented in my lifetime. We do not know what tomorrow might bring, but we know that as long as God gives us resources and open doors we will continue to work hard to share the Bible in China.
My thoughts have been centered on the 119th Psalm this month. It speaks of the value of hearing, learning, cherishing, and pursuing the perfect law of God. It guides our steps, it brings blessing, it keeps us from sin, it strengthens us, it preserves our lives, it makes us wiser than our enemies, and on and on it goes. What a powerful book! It changes lives and transforms families, communities and nations. What a privilege it is to be a part of an organization that holds the Word in such high regard. What an unfathomable blessing it is for us to have access to it so freely. Our prayer is that this access would be the same for all our friends in China and that this access will continue to strengthen and transform China. Thank you again for helping us get scriptures to our Chinese brothers and sisters in Christ. Your gift is making a difference.
It’s important that we are always diligent in making sure the Bibles are complete without being replaced with corrupt information.
There are many ways to help us fulfill our mandate. You can like us on Facebook and help us get to 1,000,000 followers. This will help us get a wider audience there. We have a presence on Instagram and Twitter where you can follow us as well. You can designate us as your charity on Amazon Smile. When you do this, a percentage of every Amazon purchase goes to Bibles for China. Obviously you can give on our website or by sending a donation to the address included. But most importantly you can pray. Pray that God keeps us on point, that doors remain open, and that the Word would be “received with great eagerness” (Acts 17:11) and as a result lives in China would be transformed.
With appreciation and prayers,
Kurt Rovenstine, President Bibles for China
