In the midst of changing times and the confusion running rampant throughout the world, it’s a blessing to read and trust Psalms 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.” What an asset we have as Christ followers to know that God is in control.
What an encouragement we receive from great friends and partners of Bibles for China. One such passionate supporter learned about our ministry while visiting with one of our faithful donors while seated together as passengers on an airplane flight. He is a retired sheriff from Florida who has been with us in China several times and has been a devoted and generous supportive partner since February 2015. He recently shared what a blessing it’s been for him to have the sense of ministry fulfillment and to be able to see and touch those we serve in China. All of us serve as a supportive family to the thousands who have been eternally reached by the gift of a Bible.
We need to understand what is taking place in China. The Chinese Communist Party has less than 100,000,000 individuals committed to their ideology. Those of us who have a heart and love for the people of China need to separate our feelings from the CCP and the United Front within the party and come to grips with 1,000,000,000 plus persons in China who have no favor or desire to be in a position of power. They are the forgotten and used working class in need of the love and supportive relationships available to them. This is where we at Bibles for China fit into reaching and touching those that live in rural China with the funding of Bibles.
In the midst of the coronavirus, it’s amazing that we have had a higher number of new monthly donors for which we are extremely grateful. This is happening given the fact that Wuhan seems to be the hot spot where attention is given regarding where the virus originated. Wuhan was one of the first places we went as an organization over 10 years ago. It is interesting how the Lord works and moves throughout the world through those who are dedicated to seeing people come to Christ. I remember vividly the words of the leader in that area saying “We feel that if we sow God’s Word in rural China to the grandparents who have children working in the cities we’ll be able to reach the urban area through their children. It’s important that we get them a Bible.” That has made a difference for us.
Flooding has been an issue in China. This year’s rainy season was one of the worst in recent history, especially in south central China along the Yangtze River where the rainy season came early and stayed late. Millions of people were affected, with many losing their homes and businesses, and tragically many lost their lives. The pictures and stories that we saw on the news were hard to believe. Our hearts go out to those in China who went through this tragic time of devastation. The recovery and rebuilding will be a long and difficult task. These people should be in our prayers. Would you consider helping us in our efforts to replace these Bibles lost in the flooding of 2020? Our brothers and sisters in China have gone through so much this year, beginning with Covid-19 and continuing with once in a lifetime flooding. As members of the body of Christ, it is a privilege to be able to reach out and help bless others just as God has blessed us. Thank you in advance for your prayers and generosity.
