Satan would love to prevent God’s Word from reaching rural Chinese believers. He has been successful in keeping Bibles out of rural China for several decades and does not easily give up this kind of “believer bondage”. Please pray that God will protect both His Word and those who travel there to have the joy of seeing the believers receive a Bible.
Jesus invested much of his life, 2000 years ago, in the younger generation that is now known as Generation Y (Gen Y), those 35 years of age and younger. He entrusted them to “make disciples of all nations”. Bibles for China is sending our first team made up totally of Gen Y team members. What a joy to see that God is still entrusting His work to this generation.
God has given Gen Y Christians some very unique life circumstances. Gen Y Christians have grown up with technology and rely on it in every part of their life. This generation has expertly reached others for Christ as they communicate through e-mail, text messaging, and social networks rather than face-to-face contact, but when they do become personally involved, they are confident, ambitious, achievement-oriented, and they love people.
Psalm 145:4 says, “One generation shall praise Thy works to another, and shall declare Thy mighty acts.” It has been a real joy to watch Gen Y individuals interact with Chinese believers of all ages. One older Chinese gentleman forever changed the life of a younger man serving on a BFC team when he said “When you touched my hand, I felt the Holy Spirit touch my heart.” This young man also had the Holy Spirit touch his heart and he determined to involve his peers in providing Bibles into rural China. Pray that God might use Bibles for China’s first Gen Y team to create enthusiasm for future Gen Y teams.
Isaiah 55:10-11 says, “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without
watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth; It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve
the purpose for which I sent it.” Please pray that each Bible is not only read by the one that receives it but that it is also shared with others who desperately need to hear God’s Word.
Many Chinese believers in rural China have prayed for years for a Bible. I met a man who had been a
Christian for over 50 years and never had a Bible of his own. It was an honor as a member of the Bibles for China team to watch him receive his first Bible. Thank you on his behalf. Please be as generous as God will allow to fund more Bibles into rural China.
